about

Number is a solo project by Jake McCaffray. This album, 1: Jake Got Sad, was born out of McCaffray’s need for a secondary creative outlet from his band, Fruit Juice, and is a return to his joy of recording, arranging, and playing by himself at home. The album is thoroughly tongue-in-cheek sad white boy music, which makes for a surprising balance of sincerity and satire. By drawing from some of life’s darker experiences and feelings—whether with melodrama or a disconcerting levity— McCaffray has created an album you can cry to while laughing at everything that’s causing the tears.
